Aimed at sustaining and institutionalizing social accountability (SA), a regional ESAP Learning Seminar has taken place in Addis Ababa, Hawassa and Dire Dawa on 30 and 31 October 2023.
“At this juncture, we are bound to wonder on two big questions: What have we achieved? And what have we learned?” highlighted Meskerem Girma, ESAP Team Leader and Country Representative, in her welcoming speech, delivered to the participants on her behalf.
With the programme ending in 2024, the Learning Seminar has brought together different social accountability stakeholders to explore and share best experiences on how the SA systems and mechanisms have been put into actions.
For over ten years, the ESAP has worked toward improving service provision in local governments in Ethiopia through Social Accountability, a process that builds trust between civil society, citizen and the government in performance monitoring and participative planning and budgeting of local service delivery.
