Finance Refersher Training

“Quality and timely financial reporting is the basis for ESAP implementation, particularly during the remaining two quarters of the project.” That was the message delivered by Meskerem Girma, ESAP Team Leader, during a two-day finance refresher training, provided to more than 110 finance officers and project coordinators of the Ethiopia Social Accountability Program (ESAP) implementing partners (IPs).

Held on October 3 and 4, 2023 at Azzeman Hotel, Addis Ababa, the training focused on familiarizing the participants with the major financial report requirements and creating common understanding about the impact of financial report qualities on project implementation and disbursements.

“It’s important to understand the factors behind our reporting behaviour, those affecting the quality and reporting lag,” said Hebist Shiferaw, ESAP Finance, Grants and Operations Director, indicating that sound financial management and reporting is a critical component for a successful project delivery.

The two-day refresher training addressed critical issues in the project financial reporting, grant management, audit requirements and closeout procedures while deepening the participants understanding of timely and quality financial reporting.
